A short demo of my work in progress platformer and first serious project. This was created for the /r/solodev marathon jam. In this short demo, you will use your platforming skills to sneak into the Louvre through the Paris catacombs, defeat undead Da Vinci and make off with the Mona Lisa. Additional planned levels include Camelot, the Valley of the Kings and the Moon.

Controls:

Arrow keys for movement, space to throw shuriken. Shift to sneak. M for menu and R for restart. Select "New" to start from the tutorial or "lvl" to directly select Paris.

Hi!

Good: I thought your game showed a lot of promise! I think your sprites are well done and the core concepts of the game are fun! Sneaking past the skeletons is awesome. It would be cool if I could move through the skeletons while I am sneaking.

Critique:

- I actually couldn't get past the first skeleton boss without dying! He shoots very fast and I thought I could "sneak" to dodge the bullets but that did not seem to be the case maybe you could implement it!

-Respawning back and the start of the level was rough since it took awhile to get back to the skeleton boss! I got there 3x!

-I also want my raccoon to be faster he is a small little fast animal he should feel that way! However, I do like that he slows down when he is sneaking! It adds complexity to the mechanic.

-Another thing was I had a difficult time telling what I could and could not jump on. For example I had no clue I could jump on the flags of the building in your screenshot. Try to make your land-able platforms "pop" a bit more!

Overall your game shows flashes of greatness and I would love to see you iterate more on it!

This game is definitely an interesting concept, the art style is cool aside from some dimensional issues but that's just preference. I would suggest give this game a go as it does seem like an interesting project that could use some more feedback and become something more enjoyable and interesting once more developments have been made to it.

You may find difficulties in areas regarding da Vinci, skeletons and red skeletons. There are some tips for controls on the walls when you need to use them so make sure to look out for those! The game itself is definitely a decent playthrough so totally give it a go!

Thanks so much for the play and review! Your feedback is pretty spot on, the music will probably improve as I do since it was my first time making any. The inability to jump during sneak mode was a choice to prevent using the reduced gravity to jump higher but I can probably write something to handle that. I might change the red skeleton to be black and put a sneak sign because none of those were ever intended as enemies. The first two are specifically just moving platforms. As far as other stuff, more directions through the level and for combat and some work on the player controller for easier sneaking and dodging.
